I take lots of pictures, I started out using a digital 1MP HP C-30, but once I got a film SLR I was hooked. I’ve now come back full circle after picking up a Digital SLR, a Pentax K100D Super! My current point and shoot is a 3MP Pentax Optio S (the camera with the optical 3x zoom that fits in an Altoids Tin).
A couple of years ago when I could still easily purchase quality film, I used to shoot a lot of black and white, eventually learning to develop my own film, and do my own darkroom printing.
The switch to digital really became a necessity due to the lack of shops that carry film, and darkroom supplies in my area. Thankfully, there are a couple of options for getting a quality print from a digital file, so the darkroom has become impractical.
I do all of my digital darkroom processing using Ubuntu with UFRaw and the Gimp, or on my Macbook using Pentax Photo Lab 3 and Pixelmator.
