herrling island

This is mostly an area used by fishermen to fish the fraser. Its a big gravel bar that they call an island. Well its only a gravel bar at certain times of the year. In the middle of the island there are a bunch of atv trails, and small tree farm run by Scott Paper. For the most part, Herrling Island looks like a vast expanse of small rocks, littered with salmon carcases. When I was there we stayed to the south side of the island, on the north side of the island is likely where most of the fishing was taking place. I hear that during sockeye season, they’re lined up shoulder to shoulder trying for a bite!

Above: Some water near the entrance to the island. The water levels are quite low in January.

above: some campers setup near the middle of the island. A lot of people with ATV and Fishermen camp on the island.

above: along the trees would normally be the south shore of the fraser.
