eagle ridge
Eagle Ridge was a very popular trail, particulary because it is so close to the city, just north of port moody and Coquitlam’s Westwood Plateau, it was very easy to get to, and the wheeling was getting better and better all the time due to erosion. I’m sad to say that the trail is now closed due to the ammount of garbage the locals were dumping at the trail head, and all of the stolen cars that were ending up on the trail being burned to a crisp.
The above photo is the trail in December, the higher you go, the deeper the snow gets. And the run off from this shapes the trail below. On Eagle rige there were only a couple of “filters” obsticles at the start of the trail.
There is a lookout off the trail, you can see SFU/Burnaby Mtn, and the city skyline, its a great view, but I’ve only been there when it was pissing rain, and well, this is all I saw [above].
Eagle mountain is also home to Cypress Lake, and a damn, which is maintained by the Port Moody Ecological Society. I’ve also been to the radio reflector on the mountain, but I don’t have any photo’s of it.
