Do you have an ExpressVu 6000 HD Receiver?

February 8th, 2009

If so, you will be receiving a new 6131 from Bell TV!

Starting on April 1st, Bell TV will be switching their transponders over to use 8PSK signaling, which will allow them to offer more HD channels. The change only affects the older first generation HD recievers, which is a nice gesture on the part of Bell since the early HD adopters paid the way for Bell to expand their HD services.

If you have a model 6000, then you should be recieving a letter from Bell (assuming you havn’t already). Simply call the number in the letter to arrange for the delivery of your new 6131, and the retur of your old 6000.

Stay tuned for updates on new channels once the 8PSK switch starts on April 1st 2009.

I called yesterday to rearrange my channel package, I asked about upgrading my rental 9200 to the one that had the USB port active, they told me there would be a $75 fee and a service call,, I said no thanks,

what the heck? I started to think, what the heck would the technician have to do?

we already had our original 9200 replaced because it wasn’t working right,

    anyways, that is my comment.

      Hi Gary –

I can kind of understand the $75 fee, but the idea of sending a tech out seems really stupid. If you already have a working HD dual tuner PVR, why would they need to send somebody out to essentially plug it in for you and call the 1-800 number….

I’m going to stay with my 9200 for a while longer. The new 9241 has dual tuners, but you cannot “dual wield” two channels. My spouse loves to watch two shows at the same time by pausing the first show, hitting swap, and then watching a second show on the other tuner. My brain can’t handle it, but hers apparently can.

Ah, thanks for the dual info, maybe it is a good thing I hesitated at switching,

Bell did have the 9242 for a while, which is a drop in replacement for the 9200, but with a bigger hard drive (30 hours of HD) and USB disk support. Alas, its been discontinued, and they quickly shoved the lower priced 9241 into its place.
