Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100

laptop-screen-small.jpgI recently got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 notebook for work, and as a first matter of business I had to check and see and see how well Linux would run on it. I decided to install Ubuntu 6.06 LTS because I need this latptop for work, and on the job I have little time to tweak and fiddle with settings, drivers and hardware. I need everything to work, and in my opinion Ubuntu Linux is the most polished and “finished” desktop available today.

Using the installer on the live CD I was able to resize the current XP Pro partition (just in case), and install Ubuntu. Everything was done in about 30 minutes and I now had a working Linux laptop.

What HD Channels are available in Canada?

tvIts a good question, and Digital Home Canada has posted a great guide as to which channels are available, and which TV providers they are available from. As expected Bell ExpressVu and Rogers Cable lead the pack with the most HD channels available.

BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Leaked: Tons of Pics and Videos

New pictures have surfaced of the BlackBerry 8100 (Pearl) courtesy of Boy Genius. He also shot some video footage of the new device in action. I think this is the best looking BlackBerry yet, and could be a motorola-Q killer. For me personally, I would like to see a phone with this styling with the addition of a QWERTY keyboard, likely a combination of the 8700 + the pearl.
